Greatful Dead Sky

Painting 1

I made this painting a few years ago when I was in college. Two of my best friends were fans of the Grateful Dead. I liked the tie-dye shirts that people would wear at the concerts, so I did a painting which had that effect in the sky.

Springtime

Painting 2

I did this painting one day in the spring. It was a nice day in May and this is the visual I got when I began painting. This is my version of a spring day in the mountains.

Indian Summer

Painting 3

I did this painting when I found out my grandmother was going to live in a nursing home. I was kind of sad about that and starting thinking about what it's like to grow old. This is the type of place I'd like to go to when I get older.

The Mystic Lakes I

Painting 4

I did this painting when I was driving around Arlington one day and saw the Mystic Lakes. A lot of people go sailing and fishing in this lake and I felt like painting a view that I saw.

Mountain Tops

Painting 5

This painting is just a practice painting. The main thing I wanted to do was practice painting mountains. It came out okay, but I could of done more with this one.

A Painting For Dad

Painting 6

This is another practice painting. On this one I was trying to improve on painting trees and bushes. I like how it turned out. The oval shape was done using contact paper. Basically I cover the whole canvas with contact paper, then cut out the shape that I want to paint. It's a fun technique I tried one day. My dad really likes how this one turned out, so I named it after him.

Up North

Painting 7

I was in the mood to do a snow scene when I made this one. It had been a while since I painted, so I was a little rusty. Snow scenes are easier to paint because the canvas is already white to begin with. To create the look of snow doons I just use different degrees of shading.

Up North II

Painting 8

Here is another winter scene. This time I added a lake in the middle of the painting to try something a little different from the last version.

Up North III

Painting 9

Here is another winter scene but I did more of a river running through it this time. This particular painting is very small. I wanted to use a small canvas to see how things would look in a miniature version.

Waterfalls I

Painting 10

This painting was my first attempt at painting a waterfall. What I wanted to do was have a mountain and lake in the background, and have the waterfall flow down towards another lake.

Summertime Rolls

Painting 11

I wanted to do a painting that gave the feel of a summer vacation in the woods. I added the mountains into this one and mixed up the clouds a little bit. The cabin adds to the painting, and gives a little more detail to the scene.

painting12.jpeg

Hawaii I

Painting 12

I made this painting when I came back from a vacation in Hawaii. I went there when I was 16 with my parents. I really liked it there and wanted to paint something that would remind me of my trip.

painting13.jpeg

The Cliffs

Painting 13

This is another practice painting. For this scene instead of doing mountains I was trying to paint more of a rocky ledge. I also tried doing a sky with some contrasting colors to give the painting a better look.

painting14.jpeg

Out In The Boonies

Painting 14

I wanted to do a scene that showed nature without any people or cabins etc. Just the outdoors in the late summer season.

Fall Colors

Painting 15

I was in the mood to work with alot of different colors on my palette, so I did a fall scene with all kinds of different details. I'm happy with how this one turned out. Painting falls scenes is my favorite because you can really get creative.

Too Perfect
Painting 16

This was another practice painting. I was trying to work on painting bushes and fur trees. I also wanted to use alot of color on this one to give it more detail. I'm happy with how it turned out, but it's a little bit too neat for a landscape scene.

Lake View

Painting 17

I did another painting with a cabin right on the water. This is another practice painting that I did to learn how to improve my brush strokes.

painting18.jpeg

Aqua Sky

Painting 18

I did this one to try out some new aqua color paint I bought at the time. I also was practicing my cliffs again. I actually entered this painting in an art contest at Arlington High School. I lost the contest because I forgot to frame and matt my entry, but I learned alot from that experience. I do like that color blue though for the water.

Hawaii II

Painting 19

Here is a second painting I did when I came home from Hawaii. I was trying to learn how to paint palm trees and trying different tropical scenes.

Little House On The Prarie

Painting 20

One day I was watching tv and clicking through the channels. I was kind of bored and I stumbled onto an episode of "Little House on the Prarie," so I decided to do a painting version of the show. I really like how the sky turned out with this one.
